Trying to walk
Here is my grandson, Charley. He is almost 11 months old and starting to walk. It is very cute to watch him. He also has new Batman pj's - they even come with a cape! He is such the super hero!
Salt
We are now adding salt to the horses feed. This is to help to make them drink more water. You know the old saying, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink". Well, this is true, but you can salt their feed! That will make them drink! :)
Having four horses has proven to be a wonderful experience for me. I am enjoying them very much! They are so wonderful to watch, to ride, and to just sit back and see how they interact with each other.
I am hoping that tomorrow afternoon will be a great day to ride. I haven't been able to ride in awhile - it is about time!

Back to normal - whatever that means! :)
Well the horses are all fine. We did what the vet said and Star is much better. She has only been able to have hay, but tonight she will be able to have feed again. I am sure she will be very happy!
We have the filly back, Serenity. She came last night. She is Star's baby; who was born in May. We had a hard time weaning her, so she went away for a few weeks to another pasture so that mom and baby could be apart to break that bond.
All the girls seem happy to have her back, ah well, not Princess if she is trying to eat her hay. Princess likes to eat!

Colic
Well, this morning after feeding the girls (horses), my border, Kristin, came knocking at the door. Her horse, Star, was laying down and not eating. Fearing this was colic, we called around and spoke with a vet to see what to do next. Yep, colic! Actually we are not sure if it is just colic or also dehydration. Star doesn't drink much water as a rule anyway. So, what happens next?? Well, you get to walk the horse until it can poop - yep - you read right - so an hour and half later - still no poop! Star does look better and we are very happy that we caught her in time.
I have to get ready for work, Kristin is still walking Star. Ah, what a morning! I usually have coffee and e-mail time after mucking out stalls - guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to enjoy my morning that way.
Oh, and I also get to run by the feed store and pick up Sand Clear - need to make sure all the horses get some of that - sure don't want any more mornings like this one!
